The Daily Acca: A Saturday 3pm Fivefold
A second half Huesca equaliser scuppered Friday's Daily Acca for Paul Robinson but he is feeling confident today and has added a couple of extra picks into the mix. Here are his selections:
Bet of the day at St James' Park
Bet 1: Back Newcastle @ 9/10 - KO 15:00 GMT
The Magpies have picked up some really good results of late and they were desperately unlucky not to beat Wolves last time out or get a point at Spurs the time before. The game prior to that, they beat Manchester City, of course.
So it seems surprising then that Rafa Benitez's men are just shy of evens to beat Huddersfield at home. The Terriers are well adrift at the bottom having taken just 11 points from their 26 matches this season. They aren't in good form either - four straight defeats and 13 from their last 14 in all competitions. This surely has to be one of the bets of the day.
Goals to continue to flow at Carrow Road
Bet 2: Back BTTS in Norwich v Bristol City @ 4/6 - KO 15:00 GMT
At Carrow Road this afternoon we have a host who rarely fail to score at home against a visitor who nearly always find the net away. Both teams to score has to be the play.
These two clubs are battling for promotion to the Premier League, with Norwich sitting pretty at the top with 63 points, and while Bristol City are only sixth with 53, they have played two games less.
Seven of the Canaries' last eight in front of their own fans have seen this selection land, while Lee Johnson's Robins have scored at least once in each of their last half dozen away from Ashton Gate.
Boro to pick up a rare home win
Bet 3: Back Middlesbrough @ 4/5 - KO 15:00 GMT
Back to the north east now as Middlesbrough should be able to put a struggling, QPR, to the sword at the Riverside. Steve McClaren's visitors fell to their sixth straight Championship defeat on Tuesday at home to West Brom, and away from home it's just one win in nine.
The Boro meanwhile had the luxury of not having a match during the week and they will be well rested ahead of this clash. They bounced back to form with a 1-0 win at Ewood Park last Saturday, and while they haven't won too many games at home of late, Tony Pulis' side won't get much of a better opportunity.
Entertainment in the Midlands
Bet 4: Back BTTS in Birmingham v Blackburn @ 20/23 - KO 15:00 GMT
Our second BTTS selection comes from St Andrew's as I can definitely see the ball in the net at both ends when Birmingham take on Blackburn.
Rovers have lost their four latest outings, which has all but ended their Play-off hopes. They haven't picked up many points on their travels, but interestingly enough, since a 0-0 draw at Derby in September, they have played 12 more times away from home and only failed to score once.
The Blues fell to a miserable 1-0 defeat to Bolton when they last played on this ground, so they could do with giving their supporters something to cheer about. They really need to win today to keep on the heels of the top six, so expect them to go for it from the off.
The Pilgrims to keep their good form going
Bet 5: Back Plymouth @ 13/10 - KO 15:00 GMT
We conclude in League One as I feel that Plymouth are being overlooked by the oddsmakers in recent weeks.
Following a poor start to the campaign, Argyle have managed to lift themselves up to 16th in the table, and they have now lost just one of their last nine matches. At home it's 10 points from a possible 12, and the visitors today are a struggling, Rochdale.
The Dale come into the game on the back of consecutive defeats and they are only one point above the relegation zone. On their travels it's six defeats in nine, and I can't see their long trip south proving fruitful.
