Against All Odds: Seagulls to be involved in another thriller

Can Mick McCarthy lead Ipswich Town back into the Premier League?
Can Mick McCarthy lead Ipswich Town back into the Premier League?

It's fourth versus sixth in the Championship tonight and Paul Robinson thinks we'll be in for goals at The Amex.

"The Seagulls are currently on a streak of four to go over 2.5 on this ground and six out of their last eight here in the bigger picture."

Brighton v Ipswich

A poor December has seen Brighton slip from the automatic promotion places down to fourth. They are without a win in four and they suffered their first defeat of the campaign at home to Middlesbrough as they were thrashed 3-0.

It's been a better month for opponents, Ipswich, as they have won three of their last four - the sole blemish being a defeat to Derby. The Tractor Boys are back in the play-off places and while a win here wouldn't see them climb the table, it would see them close the gap on third placed, Hull, to four points.

There's been a notable shift in the number of high-scoring matches that Chris Hughton's hosts have been involved in of late and while they drew 0-0 on Boxing Day, prior to that they had five games in a row finish with at least three goals scored. The Seagulls are currently on a streak of four to go over 2.5 on this ground and six out of their last eight here in the bigger picture.

Mick McCarthy's men have had two of their three most recent outings reward under 2.5 layers and if we concentrate solely on their fixtures away from Portman Road, that stats becomes four out of their last half dozen.

When these two met back in August the match finished 3-2 to Brighton and that was again the scoreline when they played this fixture last term. Add in the recent upturn in goals for both clubs, with under 2.5 trading at around the 1.758/11 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
