There's a mouthwatering cup semi-final in Portugal tonight, and Kev's backing the hosts...
"Braga haven't lost at home for over a year, and they have won their last two home games against Sporting."
Back Sporting Braga To Qualify at 8/11 on the Sportsbook
Braga to keep cup dream alive
Sporting Braga v Sporting CP
Wednesday 23 January, 19:45
Our Copa was half-full rather than half empty last night, as our boys Getafe edged out Valencia 1-0.
We'll move elsewhere in the Iberian Peninsula, because there's a big cup semi-final to look forward to. Sporting Braga are up against Sporting CP in the final four of the Taca da Liga, and I think the hosts can edge it.
Braga have taken this competition seriously, winning all three of their group games, and they have plenty of motivation, as the final will be held at their stadium. They are also keen to win a trophy for the first time since 2016, when they lifted the Taca da Portugal.
It has been a strong season overall for the Archbishops of Braga. They are just three points off top spot in the Primeira Liga, and are still in both domestic cup competitions. The only blot on the copybook was their early exit from the Europa League. They have put together a run of nine wins in 11 matches in all competitions, and they have won their last two home games against Sporting CP by a single goal to nil.
Lisbon giants Sporting CP are onto their third coach of the season, and although former Ajax boss Marcel Keizer is doing well, the Lions do still malfunction every so often away from home. Recent defeats at Vitoria Guimaraes and Tondela show there is work to be done.
Braga have won their last seven home matches in all competitions, and they haven't lost at home since a defeat to Benfica over a year ago. They haven't even conceded a goal at home since late November, and I'll back them To Qualify on the Sportsbook at 8/11.
