Atletico Madrid delivered the goods yesterday by finding the back of the net three times and it means we are looking for three winning bets in a row this evening.
Mattersburg are currently eighth in the table with 35 points from 33 fixtures to date. Franz Lederer's men are having an okay season by their recent standards and although they've only picked up eight victories, they are in no danger of being relegated. They ended a run of four losses and no win in six with a bang last time out by hammering Wacker Innsbruck 3-6 and I think that might prove a catalyst for them to pick up a few more points in the last three games of the season. In terms of goals, Mattersburg's matches are averaging 2.42 and two out of their last three have gone over 2.5.
Rapid Vienna are second in the league but last week's defeat by Salzburg all but ended their title aspirations as they now trail the leaders by six points with just three left to play. Before that game, Peter Schöttel's side were unbeaten in five, winning three and drawing two, but although they've been in good form, that defeat to Salzburg is an absolute body blow and they could struggle to get up for their remaining matches. Vienna have scored 47 and conceded 30 so far this campaign at an average of 2.33 per game, but the goals have been flowing more freely away from the Gerhard Hanappi Stadium recently as four of their last five have gone over 2.5, with three going over 3.5 and one even breaching the 4.5 mark.
This is verging on an end of season clash with little to play for for either side and that's reflected by the market with under 2.5 goals trading at around [1.94] I think that could be a touch too short though as both sides are in decent goalscoring form of late, and that's why I'm making it my lay of the day.
Lay Under 2.5 goals in Mattersburg v Rapid Vienna @ [1.94]
