Ever lost a packet after you banked on England to win on penalties? If the answer's yes, you're a fool. But Feizal Rehman has the answer, so get ready to punt on a major tournament with no home nations.
With the usual ubiquitous flags of St George failing to fly so proudly, no anthemic In-ger-lund sing-a-long pervading the airwaves and not a single breaking news story about a broken metatarsal, one could almost be forgiven for being oblivious to an impending major international football tournament. Indeed, Euro 2008 is now upon us and for most of the continent, eyes will be focused eagerly towards Austria and Switzerland with the hopes and dreams of sixteen nations resting delicately on the fate of twenty-two men and a single ball.
However, the absence of all the home nations this year is no reason for the patriots among us to switch attentions over to events in the Big Brother house and suffer the inescapable withdrawal symptoms until Premiership action returns. On the contrary, unbound from misguided jingoism to cloud our punting judgment there is now greater latitude for making this year's festival of football a most profitable one, and the cheers to be heard from Michael Ballack, Iker Casillas or even Andreas Ivanschitz lifting the Henri Delaunay trophy on June 29th could be as loud as if it were John Terry himself. More open than any international tournament for some years, there is clear value to be had throughout Betfair's vast range of markets. All that remains now, is to find that value.
