Wins for Mike and Jas in midweek may have leader Joe looking over his shoulders slightly more nervously than previously, and another round of fixtures is another chance to gain or lose ground. Here's this week's quintet of Battle bets...

"Arsenal might be without their best defender Laurent Koscielny due to a knock he picked up in their 5-1 victory against Bournemouth, and if they are forced to field Shkodran Mustafi at centre-back, it might be an easy day for the hosts."

And the Reds go marching on, on, on...

Back Man Utd -1 v Southampton @ [2.4]

Manchester United may be suffering an injury 'crisis' but most clubs would kill to field the XI deployed in a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace and the Red Devils look decent value to take another three points this Saturday.

Southampton are in town and I'm a little surprised to see United at bigger than [1.5] on the Betfair Exchange. Of course I can't play such short odds in this column but I am prepared to be a little bolder by giving Saints a one-goal start, an option that can be backed at [2.4].

The visitors have plenty to play for given just a two point advantage over 18th placed Cardiff but United will be determined to keep their top four bid ongoing and must be fancied for the win.

United's defence is doing its job with clean sheets secured against Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks and the attack is potent whoever lines up.

A home win by two goals or more looks solid punting material to my eye.

Citizens to stroll to success

Mike Norman
Back Man City Any Other Away Win @ [3.4] v Bournemouth
Saturday, 15:00

Bournemouth have bee in very poor form of late - most of it on the road admittedly - so you'd think the last team they want to face on Saturday is a Manchester City side that can go top of the table with a victory.

The Cherries have the third worst defensive record in the Premier League this term but that really shouldn't surprise us. Eddie Howe is a very attack-minded manager and his side usually go all out for goals. That's a great approach in general, but a bit of restraint might be needed against the division's big guns, especially when you're badly out of form.

Howe's men conceded five to Arsenal in midweek and I can see them copping another big defeat here. As alluded to earlier, the Citizens have the added incentive of being able to go to the top of the table before Liverpool play in the Merseyside derby on Sunday, and Pep's men will certainly want to record a big win in response to the Reds' 5-0 win over Watford in midweek

Spurs to fire back in North London Derby

After two losses on the bounce for Tottenham, their price against Arsenal this Saturday has drifted to an over evens punt that I will be taking advantage of. The price is a reaction to their two defeats but against Arsenal at home they hold an advantage.

In the last four Premier League North London Derbies, the home team has taken all three points and if you combine that with Arsenal's less than satisfactory away form of W5-D3-L5 as well as the fact that they have won just one of the last 16 of this fixture (that one coming at White Hart Lane in 2014), it's hard to ignore the price.

Arsenal might be without their best defender Laurent Koscielny due to a knock he picked up in their 5-1 victory against Bournemouth, and if they are forced to field Shkodran Mustafi at centre-back, it might be an easy day for the hosts.

Parker's Fulham to push Chelsea

Dan Thomas
Back Chelsea to beat Fulham 2-1 at [9.2]

I'm switching away from the Same Game Multis this weekend and going for a Correct Score dart as Fulham host neighbours Chelsea in Scott Parker's first game in charge.

It's probably a bit much to expect 'new manager bounce' as Fulham haven't suddenly got a quality squad but Parker will demand 100% effort in what is likely to be the last time the Cottagers face their rivals for at least a season.

With the Blues on a three-game losing run away from home - conceding 12 in the process - I'm backing Fulham to score, but Chelsea will have too much quality in the end, so the 2-1 looks like the most likely scoreline.
