Michael Lintorn picks out best bets for three Tuesday night Football League fixtures with relegation permutations...
"Birmingham have lost four successive Championship encounters and 14 of their 20 since New Year’s Day."
Best Bet: Back Wigan to win at Birmingham @ 1.981/1
Birmingham v Wigan, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: Birmingham 4.3100/30, Wigan 1.9720/21, The Draw 3.814/5
Birmingham's squad and unpopular manager Lee Clark may sleepwalk into one of the most awkward lap of honours ever if beaten by Wigan in their St Andrew's finale. Not only would the result leave them in the relegation zone heading into their season-ending journey to in-form Bolton, it will stretch the home Championship winless run that is approaching seven months to 18 matches.
The likelihood is that they will have to confront that possibility though because, while Wigan haven't been too impressive lately, they have defeated each of the other bottom-three sides away among their eight travelling league triumphs this term. The Latics also need to win to confirm their play-off participation ahead of a potentially perilous final-day trip to Blackburn.
Birmingham have lost four successive Championship encounters and 14 of their 20 since New Year's Day.
Best Bet: Back Wigan to win @ 1.981/1
Charlton v Watford, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: Charlton 2.427/5, Watford 3.211/5, The Draw 3.55
Charlton's charge to survival, which will be assured of completion if they conquer Watford, has been built on opportunism, pinching three points at Nottingham Forest and Leeds as both were enduring the low points of their campaign and sticking it to Sheffield Wednesday as they began to take it easy.
This clash has a similar feel, with the Hornets in away form almost as gloomy as Birmingham's home record, winning once in 18 such ventures and losing five of their last seven. Giuseppe Sannino's men have just a top-half finish to fight for and have won a mere three of their last nine outings.
Recommended Bet: Back Charlton to win @ 2.427/5
Crawley v Carlisle, Tuesday 19:45, Match Odds: Crawley 2.26/5, Carlisle 3.613/5, The Draw 3.613/5
Three victories in five games have freed Crawley from this season's League One relegation scramble. Instead, they will enter the top half if they see off Carlisle, who by contrast are 22nd, four points from safety and relying on a win tonight and charity at champions Wolves on Saturday to avoid the drop.
Carlisle have only won one of their last 13, and didn't score more than once in any of those fixtures. Given that Crawley haven't netted more than twice in any of their 24 matches since Christmas, and 13 of their last 18 as hosts have featured under 2.5 goals, that appears the most attractive bet.
Recommended Bet: Back under 2.5 goals @ 1.9210/11
