Dan Fitch thinks that the fine home form of Olympiakos in the Champions League will continue when they host Sporting Lisbon.

"Olympiakos’ last 12 Champions League games at home have seen them win on eight occasions, beating the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus along the way."

Battle for third place kicks off

Two unbeaten teams meet in Group D as Olympiakos host Sporting Lisbon. With the likes of Barcelona and Juventus also in their mini-league, defeat for either side would be very difficult to come back from.

The Greeks drew with Xanthi at the weekend and are joint top of the Super League having won their first two league games. They've also come through four Champions League qualifying ties without a loss.

Sporting have got off to a perfect start domestically, winning all five games in the Primeira Liga, with only Porto ahead of them on goal difference. This is now the third season out of four that Sporting have reached the Champions League group stage, but they haven't progressed any further over this period.

Olympiakos have also failed to make the knockout rounds, despite reaching this stage in six of the last seven seasons. With two of Europe's giants in this group, it looks likely that this game could go a long way to decide which team qualifies for the Europa League and which finishes bottom.

Sporting's away woes could continue

The match odds market is very evenly poised, with Olympiakos the narrow favourites at [2.74].

That price could create something of an opportunity when you take into account the recent history of both sides in the Champions League. Olympiakos' last 12 Champions League games at home have seen them win on eight occasions, beating the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus along the way.

In contrast, Sporting have struggled on their travels, losing six of their last seven away games. With that in mind, backing Olympiakos at [1.9] in the Draw No Bet market could deliver.
