Liverpool v Roma
Tuesday April 24, 19:45 GMT
League Position: Liverpool 3, Roma 3
Five Game Form (all comps, most recent first): DWWDW, WWDWL
Top Scorer: Mo Salah 41, Edin Dzeko 20
Match Odds: Liverpool 1.574/7 Roma 6.611/2 Draw 4.67/2
Over/Under 2.5 Goals: Over 1.594/7 Under 1.910/11
To Qualify: Liverpool 1.51/2, Roma 2.962/1
Opta Stat: Liverpool have scored 33 goals in this season's competition, the most by an English team in a single Champions League campaign.
Summary: Both teams upset the odds in the previous round to reach the last four. Liverpool pulled off a brilliant 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City while Roma stunned Barcelona to win their second-leg 3-0 and go through on away goals. So which team will keep the momentum going when the teams meet on Merseyside on Tuesday night? The Anfield crowd is one of the most stirring in Europe and, on big European nights, really can function as a 12th man. They certainly worked to inhibit City in the last round which is one reason why bettors make the Reds firm favourites to win the first leg. It's also worth noting that Roma have won just one of their last 14 away Champions League games (D5, L8). Eusebio Di Francesco's team proved against Barca, however, that they have the temperament to turn things around in the Italian capital if needs be, so whatever happens on Tuesday, nobody will be taking anything for granted ahead of the following week's second leg.
Bayern Munich v Real Madrid
Wednesday April 25, 19:45 GMT
League Position: Bayern 1, Madrid 3
Five Game Form (all comps, most recent first): WWWDW, DWLDW
Top Scorer: Robert Lewandowski 39, Cristiano Ronaldo 42
Match Odds: Bayern Munich 2.0811/10 Real Madrid 3.814/5 Draw 3.7511/4
Over/Under 2.5 Goals: Over 1.42/5 Under 1.42/5
To Qualify: Bayern Munich 2.1411/10, Real Madrid 1.824/5
Opta Stat: Bayern Munich have lost each of their last five games against Real Madrid in the Champions League, with all five of those coming in the knockout rounds (three in the semi-finals and two in the quarter-finals).
Summary: Real Madrid can't win the Champions League three times in a row, can they? Bettors think they can and make Zinedine Zidane's men 3.211/5 favourites to go all the way. Bear in mind too that they have won each of their last two Champions League games against Bayern at the Allianz Arena, with both coming in seasons in which they went on to win the competition, and things look good for Los Blancos. On the other hand, they had an almighty fright in the last round, needing a last minute penalty to go through against Juventus, so Bayern will take heart from that. Also, Real's league form hasn't exactly been sparking in the meantime, with a narrow win over Malaga and home draw to Bilbao. If Bayern are to triumph then they need to stop Cristiano Ronald, who already has 42 goals this season, and they need Robert Lewandsowksi to fire at the other end. Juventus proved in the quarter-finals that Real are beatable at the Bernabue, so if the German side can come away from the first leg with their noses in front then they have a chance.
