Celtic v Shakhter Karagandy: Hoops to turn tie around

Celtic should be celebrating come the final whistle

After a nightmare first-leg in Astana, Celtic must overhaul a 2-0 deficit to reach the group stages...

"Celtic scored twice in four of their six European matches at Parkhead, and lost only once - to Juventus in the first-leg of their last 16 tie."

Best Bet: Back Celtic to qualify @ 2.111/10

Celtic vs Shakhter Karagandy, Wednesday 19:45, Sky Sports 1, Match Odds: Celtic 1.251/4, Shakhter Karagandy 16.015/1, Draw 6.86/1

After their impressive run to knockout stages of the Champions League last season, Celtic face the very real possibility of an ignominious exit at the hands of Kazakh champions Shakhter Karagandy in the qualification play-off round this time around.

Neil Lennon's side lost 2-0 in Kazakhstan to leave themselves a monumental task at Parkhead, but surprisingly history is on Celtic's side, as they have successfully overturned a 2-0 away deficit on three of the four occasions they have had to do so in Europe.

Another factor in their favour is Karagandy's nervy performance away in the last round, when they took a 3-0 first-leg lead to Albanian side Skenderbeu Korce, only to let the hosts score three times in the opening half hour before eventually wining 5-3 on aggregate.

If they are as porous at Celtic Park, then there is little chance that the Scottish champions will be so forgiving.

Celtic to qualify

They have left themselves plenty to do, but with Karagandy facing a 3,000 mile trip this time around, Celtic should have enough firepower at home to qualify for the Champions League group stages, and they should be backed at 2.111/10 to prevail against the Kazakh side.

Celtic were excellent at home in last season's competition, with the frenzied atmosphere helping them claim the notable scalp of Barcelona amongst others.

They scored twice in four of their six European matches at Parkhead, and lost only once - to Juventus in the first-leg of their last 16 tie.

First Goal Odds

After their disastrous start against Skenderbeu, Karagandy will be desperate to boost their chances of qualification by keeping Celtic at bay for as long as possible.

However, roared on by their fans Celtic will be equally keen to reduce the deficit quickly, and could catch the Kazakh side on the hop with an early goal.

Skenderbeu took the lead against Karagandy in the 9th minute, and backing the first goal at Parkhead coming in 0-10 minutes at 3.953/1 looks a good choice.

Best Bet: Back Celtic to qualify @ 2.111/10
Other Recommended Bet: Back the first goal coming in 0-10 minutes @ 3.953/1
