Bill Edgar of The Times is back for the Champions League Final with his pick of the stats covering goals, match odds and bookings bets
"Given that both teams have scored by full time (before any extra time) in each of the past eight Champions League finals, that sequence can be expected to continue. It is 8-11 to do so with the Betfair Sportsbook."
On past evidence a goalless draw seems highly unlikely when Tottenham Hotspur meet Liverpool in the Champions League final this Saturday. None of Tottenham's past 106 matches in all competitions has finished 0-0, while only one of the past 26 Champions League finals has been without a goal after normal time. Given that both teams have scored by full time (before any extra time) in each of the past eight Champions League finals, that sequence can be expected to continue. It is 8-11 to do so with the Betfair Sportsbook.
Spurs' dodgy dozen
Liverpool have played 23 games since mid-January and have lost only once - the 3-0 defeat away to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals that they memorably overturned in the second leg. In contrast Tottenham have suffered a dozen defeats in that period as their challenges for domestic honours has fallen away. Liverpool, who recorded a league double over Spurs as they finished 26 points ahead of the London team, are a tempting 1.9720/21 with the Betfair Exchange to win in normal time (before any extra time).
Red rag to a Rose
Danny Rose has had a tendency to get himself booked in high-profile matches this season. The left back received a yellow card three times in Tottenham's four games in the Champions League quarter-finals and semi-finals, and was also booked against Arsenal in March and in both his competitive appearances for England this season. He is 2-1 to be carded against Liverpool on Saturday.
