Unbeaten Benfica meet well-prepared CSKA
It's been a solid start to the season for Benfica. Unbeaten, they've won four of their five games (D1) in the Primeira Liga, though they've yet to meet their rivals Sporting Lisbon or Porto, both of whom have won all five of their matches.
The Benfica coach Rui Vitoria has seen a huge turnover of players this summer. Benfica lost the likes of Ederson, Victor Lindelof, Konstantinos Mitroglou and Nelson Semedo to richer clubs and have brought in 13 new recruits. One player that they did hang onto was their prolific forward Jonas and the Brazilian has delivered, with seven goals in six appearances this season.
Their Russian opponents are deeper into their season. CSKA Moscow are currently fourth in the Premier League after nine games (W5 D1 L3) and have played four qualifying ties to reach the group stage.
CSKA should then have some advantage in terms of fitness, but must prove that they can cut it at this level, having failed to win a single game in their Champions League group last season.
Jonas can get Benfica off to a winning start
After a good start to the season, Benfica look a decent price to beat a CSKA Moscow side that lost two of their three away games in last season's competition.
All of CSKA's qualifying games produced under 2.5 goals - available at [1.75] - but it's questionable as to whether they'll be able to contain Benfica when you consider the form of Jonas. The 33-year old is [2.4] to add to his remarkable tally of 91 goals in 114 games for Benfica and is [4.85] to open the scoring.
Back Jonas to score first at [4.8]
