Bayern Munich v Olympiakos: New era will start with goals

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.
Will there be more goals for Robert Lewandowski when Bayern Munich face Olympiakos?

Bayern Munich may not have a manager, but Dan Fitch is expecting them to pick up three points and a few goals against Olympiakos.

"Six of Bayern’s last nine matches have produced at least four goals, including their last two Champions League outings."

Bayern without both a manager and a crisis

Bayern Munich play their first game since the sacking of Niko Kovac when they host Olympiakos on Wednesday.

Kovac has been under pressure for much of his reign in Munich and it came to an end after his side were thrashed 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Though it was an embarrassing scoreline, the sacking serves as a measure of the size of Bayern and the high standards they set for themselves, for this is hardly a club in crisis.

The defeat was only Bayern's third in 16 games this season (W10 D3), with the team currently fourth in the Bundesliga and only four points away from the leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. They are top of Group B in the Champions League with a 100% record and having scored more goals (13) than any other team so far in the group stage.

Assistant coach Hans-Dieter Flick will take charge and will be expected to claim victory against the group's bottom side Olympiakos. Bayern beat them 3-2 in the reverse fixture last month and the Greeks were defeated 3-1 by Red Star Belgrade in their only away match.

More goals from Champions League top scorers

Bayern's short price of 1.21/5 to win, is a further reflection of the fact that they are in a much healthier position than the average club that has just sacked their manager.

It's difficult to find any value for backing the Bayern victory, so instead it's best to bank on this game providing plenty of goals. There were five scored when Bayern visited Olympiakos and over 3.5 goals pays out at 1.774/5. Six of Bayern's last nine matches have produced at least four goals, including their last two Champions League outings.
