Only two elite teams remain in the Capital One Cup, but they won't meet one another in the quarter-finals...
Another remarkable day in the consistently entertaining Capital One Cup saw 16 goals across three matches, two comeback victories (one of those after extra time) and not a clean sheet in sight.
And with Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool all vacating the premises, it led to an unusual situation whereby more Football League clubs (three) featured in the quarter-final draw than top-half Premier League sides (two).
Those two heavyweight contenders - Chelsea and Arsenal, massive frontrunners to go the distance at 2.6213/8 and 3.052/1 respectively - avoided one another.
Instead, they face two of the more surprising survivors, with Chelsea travelling to historic rivals Leeds for a reunion with Ken Bates and Arsenal visiting Bradford, the first League Two team to get this far since Wycombe six seasons ago, and the biggest outsiders at 90.089/1.
Norwich's reward for a late recovery at home to Tottenham is another all-Premier League tie - the only one of the last eight - as they welcome back Paul Lambert, who has guided Aston Villa past Tranmere, Manchester City and Swindon. Villa are 12.011/1 to lift the trophy, with Norwich 19.018/1.
Shorter than both in the position of 9.89/1 third favourites are Swansea, who produced Wednesday night's most shocking result with a 3-1 win over Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool at Anfield. They had lost three away games against top-flight sides without scoring since their week-one thrashing of QPR.
Their reward is a home clash with Middlesbrough, which represents the Teessiders 12th away cup dispatching in 13 draws, and their sixth in succession. As Tony Mowbray's 22.021/1 long shots have won five in a row on the road, complaints will probably be kept to a minimum though.
Capital One Cup quarter-final ties (December 11-12):
