Goals in England, Scotland and Germany put "Total Goals Guys" in a profitable position for the first time
A 12% yield for the second week in a row sees the balance out of the red and sitting at £104.87. It's not much to write home about at the moment but its still very early days and we are pleased to have recovered well after losing £20 of our hard earned on Man Utd v Reading in the first week.
It's been a very positive last two weeks and based on 31 more weekends of bets this season, progression at this rate every week represents an end of season balance of just under 3.5K. Clearly this isn't going to be as straightforward as that as there will be knocks and bumps along the way.
Luckily we avoided such on Sunday night with Barcelona being held to a goalless draw at Santander. On the other hand we also avoided La Liga's derby day opener in Madrid where the champions conceded in the 1st minute before running out 2-1 winners.
Our opinions of Liverpool on their travels might have turned after Saturday's display at Sunderland where the visitors were good value for their 2-0 victory at the Stadium of Light. Both goals came from open play this time and in hindsight 1.10 for a goal in this one was a steal for anyone who got on that one.
We also passed up on Arsenal's home tie with Man City on Saturday and the tight affair was only saved from a goalless draw with 10 minutes to spare. United's tie with Tottenham on Sunday was almost Reading all over again but we never gave up hope, neither did United and it wasn't too long after HT when Nani's rasper nicked off the shoulder of Tevez and into Paul Robinsons goal, phew!
We were looking for 2 goals at both Rugby Park and the Allianz Arena and didn't have to wait much longer than an hour for these ties to deliver. Bayern went 2-0 on 68' through Van Bommel in their 3-0 win over Hannover with the Gers conceding a Daniele Invincible equaliser on the hour mark before going on to record a 2-1 victory at Kilmarnock.
We expected Hearts to be poor and unadventurous at Celtic Park on Saturday but we didn't see 5-0 coming in a game that surely confirms that Heart of Midlothian FC really are in a mess right now. 1 goal or more was priced at 1.05 and that was taken care of inside 10 minutes with a deflected Shunsuke Nakamura volley that went down as a Christophe Berra OG.
We expected more of the kind of fight that Portsmouth put on at Stamford Bridge to be honest and while we're thankful of the solitary Frank Lampard goal on 31 minutes which got us our profit from this one we are taking note of the fine defensive display Pompey executed one week before a visit to the Emirates.
Balance - £104.87, up £4.87
