Arsenal were the only disappointment for the Total Goals Guys as they had a solid weekend.
Arsenal's failure to find a winner against Birmingham on Saturday was the difference between a 48% yield and our actual return of 14%. When Gary O'Conner cancelled out Adebayor's first half penalty on 48' our back of 3 or more at [1.71] looked a certainty. It wasn't to be however and The Gunners gave Manchester United the chance to overtake them with a win in the late kick-off with manager less Newcastle.
The Magpies proved a tough nut to crack in the opening period and our second back of overs for the day at [1.74] also looked in jeopardy. Christiano Ronaldo and Co had other ideas though and when the Portuguese wing kings opener 4 minutes into the second half was followed up by a Carlos Tevez side foot 6 minutes later things started looking a little rosier and the flood gates duly opened. The all important 3rd came through Ronaldo on 70' before he sealed his first United hat-trick either side of goals from Rio Ferdinand and a second from Tevez in a goal packed final 5 minutes of play.
Earlier in the day Liverpool drew their fourth consecutive Premier League tie with a 1-1 draw at the Riverside. 2 or more goal at [1.38] was the pick here and in this situation an opening goal from the hosts is never the worst thing that can happen. George Boateng's close range effort mid way through the first half gave the visitors over an hour to get at least a draw and that they got through a 20-yard effort from Fernando Torres - the one shining light emanating from what is fast becoming yet another season of domestic disappointment.
Chelsea single headedly took care of our back of 2 goals or more for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur. We got matched at [1.3] for this one and it was looking good when Juliano Belletti decided to let rip from 25 yards after 19 minutes. Going into the final stages however the Stamford Bridge faithful couldn't be sure of the points until Shaun Wright Philips fired home from the edge of the box 10 minutes from time. The win takes extends Chelsea's unbeaten home run in all competitions to 53 games and keeps them in check with both Man United and Arsenal in the Premiership title race.
Real Madrid had us in a sweat last night with our "safe" back of 2 goals or more in their trip to bottom side Levante. The Primera Division leaders required a win to stay 7 points clear of Barcelona and to equal their own record for the biggest points total at the half way stage in the league. Sky Sports pre-match coverage focused around the so called mismatch pointing to the 36 point gap between the two sides as evidence enough that this should have been a walk in the park for the visitors.
Top v Bottom always looks like a banker but how often have we seen these go pear shaped? This tie was looking like another example until Real were slightly fortunate to be awarded a penalty which Van Nistelrooy converted with 14 minutes remaining. His second 3 minutes from time was a long range strike that took a fortuitous bounce in front of the goalkeeper's right hand. All in it was far too much perspiration involved for a [1.27] shot!
