Former Watford defender's shock move
Only a few days ago, ex-Watford defender Jay DeMerit was featured in a national newspaper expressing his concern at his struggle to find a new club following his departure from Vicarage Road at the end of last season.
The USA defender had spent the start of the season kicking his heels after featuring for his country in all four of their World Cup matches in South Africa.
However, it now seems that he could be on the verge of a shock but lucrative move to Germany to join up with former England manager Steve McClaren and hugely promising Danish defender Simon Kjaer at Wolfsburg.
The 30-year-old has also attracted interested from other German sides including Schalke and Werder Bremen, and teams in Italy and Spain were also said to be keen, but it now seems that DeMerit will help shore up a Wolfsburg back line that has leaked six goals in their first two Bundesliga games.
Can the 2009 champions recover from losing their first two matches to regain the title? They're [21.0] outsiders...
