Watford to harm Swansea's promotion bid

There are 35 matches taking place in the Football League this evening. We've picked out one of the most intriguing matches in each division and offered our verdict...

Swansea v Watford
Watford fans aren't too keen on Brendan Rodgers after growing a bit miffed when, having given him his chance as a manager, he left for Reading after less than a year, a move the Swansea boss admits was misguided, so would love nothing more than to scupper the Welsh club's automatic promotion bid. They stand a decent chance too having ended a nine-match wait for a victory against Millwall at the weekend and lost just two of their last seven on the road, especially as Swansea stuttered at Scunthorpe on Saturday. Consider laying the hosts at [1.72].

Notts County v Peterborough
After a tough spell at Preston, Darren Ferguson is showing why he was touted as a potential future Manchester United boss back at Peterborough, guiding Posh to four wins in five games to threaten an unexpected push for second place. They scored eight without reply in recent clashes with Oldham and Exeter, so Notts County's usually solid defence may be a little nervous. Their home record under Paul Ince is mixed but after disappointing results at Brentford and Leyton Orient, a defeat appears to be on the cards here at [2.88].

Shrewsbury v Port Vale
Both of these top-three finish chasers have endured topsy-turvy seasons in which they at one point looked like title contenders then suffered woeful slumps, only to since recover to give themselves a shot of ending on a high. Shrewsbury's run of five wins in seven is the slightly more impressive of the two, however they have triumphed just once in six occasions when hosting top-ten rivals, drawing four such encounters. That statistic lends itself to a bet on the draw at [3.55].
