The forum on QPR & Norwich's title drama
QPR mathematically secured top spot in the Championship last weekend and lead Norwich by five points with one game to go, yet ever growing rumours of a hefty points deduction over alleged third-party influence regarding the signing of Alejandro Faurlin have turned the market upside down, to the extent that they are out to [1.71] to win the title, with the Canaries [2.14]. What will happen? Here's what the posters on the Betfair football forum are saying...
"Has Neil Warnock said anything about this? I'd love to hear his opinion given that he was the manager that suffered from the West Ham saga. Have a feeling that he may think a fine would be adequate this time." - chathamjack
"There's absolutely no chance they will deduct them points this season. It would open up a million cans of worms. They will just fine them financially and, if the worse comes to the worse, deduct them points next season in the Premier League." - nonserviam89
"There is an air of resigned apathy on the QPR messageboards. The fact that there are three charges levelled at one of the directors personally is something we've been expecting. The general feeling is that we will get a hefty deduction as there is a lot more to this than has been made public so far." - The Kitten
"They will be deducted just enough points to knock them down to second. Think about it. So long as QPR go up, they're not going to complain, at least not seriously, and the authorities get to say they've applied a meaningful punishment in that it's a points deduction and it deprived them of the title. Everyone's happy except Cardiff - who won't really have a case to appeal (where's the precedent?), and in any case will want to focus on the play-offs." - viva el presidente!
"That's a good idea viva. Punishment is seen to be given, there is no messing with the playoffs, and all us happy layers hoover up! I like it!" - Rodan
"In the Luton incident where they were docked 10 points, they were up on 40 charges, they had broke transfer rules on more than one occasion, and over a period of nearly three years. They were shopped internally by one of their directors who said he had told the chairman he was breaking rules, yet the chairman took no notice... I'd be surprised if QPR got a points deduction at all and very surprised indeed if they got as much as a 10-point deduction." - CLYDEBANK29

Let's not ignore the fact that the club may not have actually done anything wrong. They could still be found not guilty, and rightly so now that some of the information is coming out. Stick Paladini in stocks for trying to claim that QPR spent 3.5 million on a player. That appears to have been all they've done. Remember, the FA rules over Tevez did not apply to the Football League when Faurlin was signed. Both FA and FL sanctioned the deal AND the contract renewal. I reckon they're all in the office having tea and cake.....

It is blindingly obvious that the FA delayed to this point so they can levy the points deduction to maintain their promotion and avoid being sued by QPR, as has been stated. And if what has been said is true, that the signing happened before new legislation was brought in wherein QPR immediately advised the FA or then current faurlins status. They will be promoted of this, I am certain. I also think they will go up as champions. Dont worry QPR fans, we welcome you to the emirates next season.
