Portsmouth to close gap on play-off places
We've picked out five wagers that we consider worth pursuing in the Football League this weekend: one that's odds-on, two just above evens and two slightly braver shouts...
Leicester v Derby
Derby's recent results have been fantastic, winning seven of their last nine matches, and a midlands derby at a ground they haven't triumphed at in five visits presents a fine opportunity to test how far the Rams have progressed. Leicester have won only one of four at home under Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Recommended Bet: Back Derby to win at [4.0]
Portsmouth v Doncaster
After four successive victories shot Portsmouth up the table, a point from their last two games might appear a pitiful return, but given that they've faced in-form Derby and almost defeated unbeaten leaders QPR, it hasn't been a bad week. They should return to winning ways against Doncaster.
Recommended Bet: Back Portsmouth to win at [2.1]
Brentford v MK Dons
After a dismal start to the season that surely not even the most pessimistic Bees fans saw coming, Brentford have finally hit form, going four matches without defeat. Andy Scott's men are still below their ninth-placed visitors, however MK Dons have lost six in a row on the road in League One.
Recommended Bet: Back Brentford to win at [2.3]
Chesterfield v Burton
The League Two table-toppers have taken 22 points from 24 at their new B2net Stadium and are welcoming a side who have picked up only three points on their travels and were hammered 5-2 in this fixture last year. The Spireites are therefore impossible to resist at odds close to evens.
Recommended Bet: Back Chesterfield to win at [1.82]
Macclesfield v Aldershot
We're finishing with another bold call - that Macclesfield will get the better of the club they are level on points with. There are three statistics that stand out in the Silkmen's favour: they've never lost to the Shots, have won three on the spin at Moss Rose and Aldershot are winless in three games.
Recommended Bet: Back Macclesfield to win at [2.86]
