Day 94: We're backing Nottingham Forest to beat Derby at [1.99]

Nottingham Forest's only home defeat in over 15 months came against Blackpool in last season's play-off semi-final first leg match and they responded to that setback by going another ten games unbeaten at the City Ground at the start of this campaign.

For a team who are that convincing in front of their own fans to ever be available to back at [1.99] is surprising enough - for them to be offered at that price when hosting a side that have lost their last four matches and have conceded two in each of their last six is close to stunning.

Of course, the reason that Nottingham Forest aren't considered "sure things" tonight is that they are facing their fiercest rivals Derby County and as the cliché goes, form goes out of the window on derby day, an expression that proved accurate for both east Midlands collisions last season.

Derby have lost just one of their seven clashes with Billy Davies' side since the clubs began contesting the Brian Clough Trophy when they met in 2007 but home advantage proved decisive in both encounters in 2009-10 and recent results indicate that the same is likely again this evening.

The Tricky Trees have collected 13 points from the last 15 available to them at the City Ground whereas Derby have been overcome in three successive away games, two against teams in the bottom third of the Championship table, so back them to maintain their impressive form and move three points clear of the Rams.

Our bet: We're backing Nottingham Forest to defeat Derby at [1.99], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £9.99. The same punt pays only £8.33 with Blue Square. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
