Nottingham Forest will frustrate Norwich
It promises to be a pivotal weekend both at the top and bottom of the Championship, starting with a major collision as far as the fight for promotion is concerned on Friday night and followed by two relegation six-pointers on Saturday. Here's what we're backing in those games...
Norwich v Nottingham Forest (Friday, 7.45pm, Sky Sports 2)
Paul Lambert's team's automatic promotion plans have been scuppered over the last week by defeat to Swansea and a draw at Watford, so the Canaries will hope that a return to Carrow Road will help them get back on track. Forest finally ended their nine-match winless streak in midweek though and need to get a run going to reach the play-offs, so having already beaten Cardiff and held QPR on the road, they are capable of getting a result. Lay Norwich at [2.1].
Crystal Palace v Scunthorpe (Saturday, 3pm)
The Eagles haven't been in the bottom three since January and have lost just five of their 15, but have so far been unable to rid themselves of the stench of relegation. This is a huge opportunity to change that against the team directly below them in the table, and having gone 13 home games without defeat, [1.87] is a great price on them making the most of it against a side without an away point to their name in 2011.
Preston v Sheffield United (Saturday, 3pm)
If Palace win and this match is drawn, they will be nine points off the drop, yet a stalemate is unlikely as both clubs will view this is one of their best remaining chances to claim three points. Preston are in fine form that looks liable to prove too little, too late and have won their last two encounters at Deepdale, so have to be optimistic of victory against the only side below them, especially given the Blades' dire away record. Back the hosts at [2.1].
