Forest and Leeds to win promotion battles

The best thing about consistently competitive leagues such as the Championship is that there are plenty of games to look forward to every week and this one is no exception, as the three Saturday 3pm kick-offs we've chosen to look at demonstrate...

Crystal Palace v Sheffield United
Four of the top six collide this weekend but as far as the relegation battle goes, this is one of the biggest matches of the season, as Crystal Palace would put five points of breathing space between themselves of the Blades with victory, yet will fall into the bottom three should they lose. The visitors haven't won in 11 games since Christmas, so while Palace were beaten by a Coventry team in similarly dreadful form last week, home advantage should prove pivotal as the Eagles have gone seven without conceding at Selhurst Park. They are [2.26] to triumph and [3.8] to win to nil.

Leeds v Norwich
Both of the clubs in this sixth versus third encounter have every chance of automatic promotion and as such neither will want to settle for a draw, though that's arguably the best Norwich can hope for having yet to beat a top-half side away. Leeds haven't lost at Elland Road in the league since October and have won five of their last seven at the famous ground, so [2.28] is an attractive price for the hosts, especially as only one of their last 18 games has ended in defeat.

Nottingham Forest v Cardiff
Billy Davies' team missed the opportunity to overtake second-placed Cardiff on Wednesday when they were stunned by Scunthorpe but get a second chance here against a side they saw off 2-0 in Cardiff. The Bluebirds head to the City Ground having won four and drawn three of their last seven, however Forest's home record is the stuff of legend, their last loss - play-off matches aside - coming in September 2009. That streak makes them difficult to oppose at [2.16], while on the evidence of four of their last six in the division, under 1.5 goals is worthy of a small outlay at [3.2].
