Forest and Doncaster in battle for striker

He may be Northern Ireland's all-time leading goalscorer - but David Healy's career is about to take him into the Championship, and it just seems a matter of deciding which club he joins on loan.

The 31-year-old has found his opportunities limited at Sunderland and has apparently asked manager Steve Bruce for the chance to go out on loan so that he can play regular first-team football.

Doncaster Rovers were thought to be the most likely destination and there were suggestions a move would be finalised in time for Healy to make his debut at Watford on Saturday. However, it is understood that Nottingham Forest have also entered the race to sign the former Preston and Leeds United forward.

Healy's 35 goals for Northern Ireland may have earned him their scoring record, but he struggled to get regular football at the Stadium of Light last season and was sent out on loan to Ipswich. The arrival of £13 million Asamoah Gyan and Manchester United loanee Danny Welbeck have knocked him even further down the pecking order.

Would Healy do a job for your club? Do you want him there? Let us know what you think below...
