The best places to bet in the football pyramid
Betting@Betfair have experts for every league from the Championship all the way down to the Blue Square divisions, and here are their top tips for this weekend's action...
The Championship
Millwall made light work of Bristol City and manager Kenny Jackett has a valid point when he says that his squad has been together for a while now and is a very committed and solid unit. Everyone knows the New Den is a difficult place to go, but last season the Lions made sure that was more to do with the reception on the pitch than anything else. They won 10 of their last 11 home games last season and tasted defeat just once on their own soil all season. Hull's win over Swansea showed they will be competitive under Nigel Pearson, but having enjoyed the chance to sample the likes of Old Trafford and Anfield, this is going to be a wake-up call for them. Back Millwall at [2.58].
League One
Brighton's attitude was impressive in their opener - showing a good team spirit whilst defending well. They can be quite dangerous on the counter attack. Rochdale are the division's new boys, and started last Saturday with a 0-0 at Hartlepool. They did look shaky at times last weekend, and really this is a game Brighton should win at [1.74] if they have any hope of being play-off material.
League Two
Graham Turner, back where he managed first, seems to be working a little magic and Shrewsbury are firing on all cylinders. Jake Robinson scored the season's first hat-trick last week and netted again as they beat Charlton in the Carling Cup, coming back from 3-0 down to win. Macclesfield are likely to be at the bottom end again, and the visitors, priced at [2.5], have a great chance of quickly erasing the bad memories of relatively poor away records that have cost them these past two years.
Non League
Nothing on earth would suggest Luton should be backed at [4.0] but astonishingly, the oddsmakers have been lured by all the big club hype again and despite starting this season as failures, their price has contracted. They can be laid this season at the handsome price of [3.05]. Now they'd seriously have to have improved over the summer to justify that price, yet in one game they were stuffed 3-0 by Conference North favourites Alfreton Town!
Fancy combining those tips into a multiple? A tenner treble on Millwall, Brighton and Shrewsbury pays out £95 when placed using the Betfair Coupon.
