Sousa leaves Leicester - O'Neill to return?

So, could what many people thought was a preposterous tabloid rumour be a step nearer to coming true? Leicester have parted company with manager Paulo Sousa, so does that clear the way for an incredible return to the club for former boss Martin O'Neill?

We reported the suggestion a few days ago, and the reaction from City fans was a mixture of hope and disbelief that it might be true.

Well, there is now a vacancy at the Walkers Stadium, as Sousa has paid the price for Leicester's dismal start to the new Championship season. The Foxes currently sit bottom of the league table having won only once and having suffered six defeats in their first nine fixtures, including a 6-1 pasting at fellow strugglers Portsmouth a week ago and a 4-3 reverse at Norwich in midweek.

Sousa joined Leicester in the summer after guiding Swansea to the edge of the play-offs in 2009-10. Coaches Chris Powell and Mike Stowell have been placed in temporary charge ahead of tomorrow's game at home to Scunthorpe.

City are currently [6.0] to be relegated this season, having been backed as high as [18.0]. There has, however, been a little bit of money supporting the Foxes in their game with Scunthorpe - they opened at [1.91] but have been backed as low as [1.77] and are currently trading at [1.81].
