Andy's Tuesday tips - Leicester to progress

It will be a real shame if Mick McCarthy doesn't pick his best eleven to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. Wolves aren't going to win the Premier League anytime soon so the Carling Cup or the FA Cup are their best chance of giving their fans some much-needed cause for celebration.

We all know what happened the last time Wolves travelled to Old Trafford and I think no-one wants a repeat of the spectacle of Wolves playing what was essentially a reserve team. It wasn't good for that individual match, either set of fans or for the game in general. I sincerely hope the Wolves boss puts out as good an eleven as he can.

As for Manchester United, well that's a different story. This competition doesn't rank highly in the manager's priorities and even if he does make a few changes, you can bet that his teamsheet will still be full of good international players and highly-promising youngsters.

I realise that sounds a little hypocritical to say it's okay for Manchester United to pick a reserve side but not for Wolves to do so but in the real world of football these are two teams with very different ambitions and resources in terms of playing staff.

I'd wait till the starting elevens on both sides are announced before betting on the outcome of this match. If the hosts pick a strong team they should win but if they don't and Wolves do, I wouldn't want to bet on Manchester United at a very short price.

The better bet may be to wait and see if Michael Owen starts this match and back him to score at anytime at [2.2] or better. With Wayne Rooney out injured, this is his chance to stake a claim, so a good performance from Owen in this match would put him right in contention.

Elsewhere, I'm backing Sven Goran Eriksson's Leicester to get the better of West Brom. There's an air of optimism around the Walkers Stadium right now and a win over Premier League opposition would fill the team with confidence. The Baggies have a huge game against fellow relegation candidates Blackpool the next Monday night, so they may have one eye on that.

Recommended Bets:
Back Michael Owen to score at anytime against Wolves at [2.46]
Back Leicester to beat West Brom at [3.2]
