Leeds United to remain in hunt for second
There are plenty of televised treats for Football League fans this weekend as there are high-stakes games available to watch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with two fixtures in which promotion rivals collide and a cup final. Here's what we're backing in each encounter...
Peterborough v Bournemouth (Friday, 7.45pm, Sky Sports 2)
Two faltering promotion hopefuls clash in League One on Friday night and it's the one stuck in less of a rut that have to be fancied. Peterborough have lost at MK Dons and been held at Bristol Rovers in their last two outings but have been almost faultless at London Road, winning eight and drawing two of their last ten. Given that form, [1.92] is a huge price on the home victory, while the [1.62] on over 2.5 goals isn't to be sniffed at given that it's been a feature of all bar one of Posh's games as hosts.
Leeds v Nottingham Forest (Saturday, 12.45pm, BBC1)
Two of the biggest clubs in the Football League meet on Saturday lunchtime and neither can really afford a defeat if they want to sustain faltering bids for a top-two finish. Having once appeared destined to swoop for second, Nottingham Forest are currently enduring a seven-match winless run. Leeds have only managed two triumphs in the same period yet have at least remained tough to beat at Elland Road, last being conquered there in October. Back them to see off the Tricky Trees at [2.3].
Brentford v Carlisle (Sunday, 1.30pm, Sky Sports 2)
Carlisle missed out at Wembley in last year's Johnstone's Paint Trophy, losing 4-0 to Southampton, and are in danger of falling at the final hurdle again given that their opponents Brentford, who have failed in their two previous final appearances, head to the national team stadium on a run of three straight wins, one of which came against the Cumbrians. Nicky Forster's side are [2.54] to deliver in 90 minutes, while more cautious punters can find [1.92] on them claiming the trophy by any means.
