The best punts for the big week ahead

Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur may be the game that jumps out at you this week, but there are plenty of other games in the Carling Cup and the Championship that should provide some great entertainment, and a chance to pocket a tidy profit...

Tuesday

Millwall v Ipswich
Before Saturday's 6-1 hammering at the hands of Watford at the New Den, it would have been hard to look beyond the Lions for this clash. That was their first home defeat in 23 games, while Ipswich - who saw off Cardiff 2-0 - look a different team to the one who was playing last year. That's probably because they are! Roy Keane has made wholesale changes and they are now second in the Championship behind QPR. Back the Tractor Boys to win this game at [2.86].

Wednesday

West Bromwich Albion v Manchester City
In a fair and just world Manchester City would walk this one, but they will find it hard against a Baggies side who have not been defeated at the Hawthorns in 12 games. Admittedly, a majority of those games were in the Championship, but so far this season, Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham have visited the Hawthorns and failed to get a win. City are desperate to win a trophy though, and the Carling Cup may represent their best chance this season. We can see them winning, but it'll be close. Back under 2.5 goals when the market matures.

Friday

Portsmouth v Leicester
Things seem go from bad to worse for Portsmouth. They are now without a win in their first seven Championship games and look almost certain to be relegated again this season. Things aren't much better (on the field at least) for Paulo Sousa's Leicester, who suffered yet another defeat - their fourth of the season - against QPR at the weekend. They showed against Cardiff with a 2-1 win last week though that they are capable of turning over good sides, so they should win this clash at [2.34].
