Bet of the Day - Ipswich to earn derby win

Day 174: We're backing Ipswich to beat Norwich at [2.92]

We've already previewed this weekend's four televised Championship games but tonight's game is arguably bigger than the lot as Ipswich and Norwich meet in an "Old Farm" derby in which even more is at stake than usual.

For Norwich, additional motivation is provided by the opportunity to return to the second automatic promotion place, while Ipswich are desperate to avenge a humiliating 4-1 loss at Carrow Road in November and give themselves a slim chance of the play-offs. It's the Tractor Boys we're backing at [2.92].

Ipswich are a team transformed since Paul Jewell's January arrival, the 31 points they have gained in his 18 games in charge making them the sixth-best side in the division over that period, prompting chief executive Simon Clegg to admit that they should have brought him to Portman Road sooner.

The Suffolk club have won four and drawn one of their last five matches so head into this clash with their fiercest rivals in fine form, whereas Paul Lambert's men have been let down of late by a disappointing record on the road, recording just two victories in eight and none in three.

The Canaries haven't fared well at the home of their East Anglian foes in recent years either, losing on each of their last three visits in a fixture that tends to be dominated by whoever is hosting, so back Ipswich to scupper Norwich's bid for a top-two finish.

Our bet: We're backing Ipswich to defeat Norwich at [2.92], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £19.20. The same punt pays only £15 with Ladbrokes, Sky Bet and Coral. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
