Betfair punters rewarded for Hull heroics
Hull City appeared to have made one of the Championship coups of the summer in nabbing Nigel Pearson off of Leicester following relegation from the Premier League, but the boss who took the Foxes into the top six a year after winning League One initially struggled to make an impact at the KC Stadium.
They've gained form over the last two months, as well as having something to celebrate off the pitch with the Allams completing their takeover of the club, their only loss in ten coming against Pearson's former side, and on Bank Holiday Monday delivered one of their most impressive results yet.
The Tigers were 3-2 victors over a Portsmouth team who had been beaten just twice previously at Fratton Park this season and the triumph moved them to within six points of the play-offs, in addition to generously rewarding the Betfair customers who backed them to win by that scoreline.
A tenner outlay on the 3-2 travelling success returned £465.50 - even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission - whereas the same wager with Ladbrokes paid out only £250.
It wasn't the first time in 2011 that betting against other punters on Betfair proved vastly more profitable than going against a bookmaker, as those who backed Aston Villa to hold Chelsea to a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge will be well aware.
Ciaran Clark's injury-time equaliser as the champions' defence went to sleep will have prompted wild celebrations among anyone who had a £10 on 3-3 on Betfair, as it delivered a profit of £1,605.50, compared to £400 with Victor Chandler - that's over four times as much!
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
