Edgar Davids linked with Crystal Palace!
The Championship is where all the cool kids want to be at the moment. David James started the trend with a shock move to Bristol City, then Craig Bellamy followed him today with his loan deal at Cardiff, and now Edgar Davids is allegedly in talks with Crystal Palace. You wait a month for some interesting transfer news...
- ITV World Cup pundit Edgar Davids could be set for a shock return to football with Crystal Palace. The TV star was apparently a decent footballer a few years ago, and Eagles boss George Burley is keen to get him in on a short-term deal, according to a Daily Mail exclusive.
- Ipswich boss Roy Keane has hinted the much rumoured swap deal involving the Tractor Boys' Jon Stead and Cardiff's Ross McCormack may not materialise. Keane said: "There's been no move on Ross McCormack, because there is one or two other clubs in for Steady. That was always going to be the most complicated one, when you're doing a swap deal." The move looks even less likely now that Bellamy has joined the Bluebirds.
- David James insists he is still happy at Bristol City - despite ex-boss Steve Coppell being replaced by Keith Millen. Coppell was a big factor in James heading to the west country, but the England stopper believes Millen has what it takes to take on the mantle. He said: "Keith's organisation seems good and I'm hoping that's going to bring the rewards that I came to the club for -the play-offs and promotion."
- While Cardiff have been making all the headlines, their south Wales rivals have taken Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza on a weeklong trial. Swansea boss Brendan Rogers is desperate to get cover for the injured Craig Beattie and Gorka Pintado, who both face lengthy spells on the sidelines with injury.
