The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 107: Back both Cardiff and Stoke to score at [1.8]
Andy Gray has told you all about how to make money betting on Leicester's trip to Eastlands to face Manchester City and we've explained why we don't expect an upset when Doncaster go to Wolves, but what about the other FA Cup third round replay taking place tonight between Cardiff and Stoke?
It's debatably the toughest of the three matches to call and the ripest for a shock because the Championship club are at home and reached the final three years ago, however we reckon the most attractive wager for the encounter is for both teams to score at [1.8].
There are four major factors prompting us to make that call - the first being that in the initial tie ten days ago both sides had found the net before half-time and another being that Cardiff have been amongst the goals in their last seven cup games despite only winning two of those.
Equally significant is the fact that Cardiff clean sheets at the Cardiff City Stadium are fairly rare. Six of the last seven visitors to the Welsh capital have put the ball past Tom Heaton and the Bluebirds have shut out their opponents on just four occasions in total.
Stoke struggled on their travels for a good 18 months following their promotion to the Premier League in 2008 but finally appear to have found the right formula for success on the road. Tony Pulis' Potters have the Premier League's seventh-best away attack, failing to score only three times in 11 in all competitions and netting eight times in their last four fixtures outside of Staffordshire.
Our bet: We're backing both Cardiff and Stoke to score at [1.8], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £8. The same punt pays only £7.27 with Paddy Power and William Hill. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
