Best places to bet in the football pyramid
Betting@Betfair have experts for every league from the Championship all the way down to the Blue Square divisions, and here are their top tips for this weekend's action...
Championship
Whether you should back Cardiff at [10.0] to win the league when they were [20.0] before Bellamy arrived is unclear, but there is no doubt that he will make a huge difference. It must be a great time to be a Cardiff fan - but probably not so for those Donny supporters making the trip on Saturday. They may well feel like the team who used to turn up and play against the Harlem Globetrotters, as this fixture has suddenly become solely about Cardiff and Bellamy. They probably wouldn't have gone odds-on before all the furore, but even at this shorter price, you have to back them at [1.9].
League One
The positives for Sheffield Wednesday are that they remain unbeaten this season, picking up four points from encounters with Dagenham and Colchester thus far. Colchester played really well against Wednesday, but the Owls got a point away from home. Brighton boss Gus Poyet has two suspended for their trip to Hillsborough (Gordon Greer and Matt Sparrow), whilst Alan Navarro's injury from last week is more serious than first thought, and his absence is a huge blow. Back Alan Irvine's men to beat the Seagulls at [1.91].
League Two
The trick at this time of year is to try to catch teams before they go odds-on. Accrington versus Macclesfield is a match with a mid-table side at home against strugglers, so the odds are more favourable on the hosts than in, say, November when there is likely to be a big points difference, and should be more straightforward to call than if it were in March and desperation would make the Silkmen more dangerous. Stanley are yet to score in the league but, equally important, are yet to concede - back them at [2.2].
