Burnley will beat Preston in rivals' reunion
Preston haven't had much to celebrate over the last few seasons and it hasn't helped that during that time they've watched their Lancashire neighbours Burnley and Blackpool do what they've failed to do on four occasions in the last decade and go the distance in the Championship play-offs.
The fact Burnley's Premier League stay only lasted a year will have cheered North End fans up a little and the clubs renew hostilities live on BBC1 in Saturday's teatime game. One of the most appeasing aspects of the rivalry is that there's usually a winner, with just one of their last 13 encounters at Turf Moor drawn.
The Clarets suffered their first league defeat of the season last time out away at Swansea but given the Welsh side's recent home record (they thumped Preston 4-0 earlier in the campaign) a 1-0 loss was no disaster, and they look a good bet at [1.76] to return to form against Preston.
Darren Ferguson's men have won four of the last five meetings between the teams, however Burnley came from behind to triumph 3-1 when they last hosted English football's first ever champions two years ago.
Preston have taken only two points from their last 11 away matches whereas Burnley have been victorious in both of their home games since going down, a decent achievement given that they have faced Nottingham Forest and Leicester. They are [2.96] to lead at both intervals.
Finally, over 2.5 goals should be backed at [2.22], having been a feature in all recent clashes, while 3-1 Burnley is the most appetising score punt at [18.0].
