The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 140: We're backing over 2.5 goals between Lecce and Roma at [2.02]
It hasn't been a good time to be a Roma fan, as shown by the at times toxic atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico in recent weeks, but they've provided endless entertainment to neutrals and betting enthusiasts in that period.
Their last six matches in all competitions have included an absurd 5-3 loss at Inter Milan, a 3-2 home defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and the collapse that saw them beaten 4-3 in Genoa, prompting Claudio Ranieri's resignation, and they showed last week that Vincenzo Montella is no miracle worker.
The 36-year-old former Giallorossi striker had led them to an impressive 1-0 victory away to Bologna in his first game in charge, however the old Roma with their magnificent ability to self-destruct re-emerged when they hosted Parma on Sunday, blowing a 2-0 advantage after two late Amauri goals.
Their hosts in Friday night's Serie A encounter, which is live for Betfair customers to watch on Betfair Live Video, are Lecce, and as they have scored two goals in each of their last four fixtures, during which time they have faced Palermo and Juventus, the Roma defence are near guaranteed another workout.
That scoring streak hasn't pulled the Salentini completely clear of relegation danger in their first season back in the big time though because like Roma, they too find clean sheets hard to come by and while they have scored eight in four, they have still conspired to conceded nine in that period.
Three of the southern clubs' last four meetings at the Stadio Via del Mare have ended with over 2.5 goals, including the last two, as have seven of the last nine at any venue, and they haven't played out a goalless draw in 11 years, so a wager on three or more goals being scored has to be the way to go at [2.02].
Our bet: We're backing over 2.5 goals between Lecce and Roma at [2.02], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £10.20. The same punt pays only £8 with Betfred. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
