Day 108: We're backing Roma to beat Lazio at [2.1]

We often avoid betting on the Coppa Italia because as many teams opt not to take the competition too seriously, the matches become harder to judge, however a lack of interest won't be an issue for either club involved in this evening's top encounter between Roma and Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma's odds of [2.1] are incredible given that almost everything points to a fourth successive Derby della Capitale triumph for the Giallorossi and Claudio Ranieri's desire to win this game is beyond question - he guided Roma to the final last year, while they've appeared in five of the last six, losing to just Inter in the tournament in that entire time.

But while the fact that it's the Coppa Italia that they're colliding in hands the hosts an instant edge, it's far from the only one that they enjoy. Ranieri's side have won seven in a row in the capital and though the two clubs ground share, home advantage is still significant when they clash.

Roma have triumphed in their last three as the official home team while Lazio haven't been victorious as visitors in the fixture since 1997, despite having filled the role a dozen times since.

Their away form has been disappointing recently anyway, taking two points from the last 12 available on the road to harm their title push and their confidence ahead of tonight's exchange can't be boosted by the memories of their 2-0 loss in November when "welcoming" Roma.

Our bet: We're backing Roma to defeat Lazio at [2.1], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £11. The same punt pays only £9.09 with Ladbrokes. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
