Napoli will frustrate title chasing AC Milan
It has been a fairly enjoyable weekend for Napoli and AC Milan, as they've sat back and watched while the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Palermo have come unstuck in games they arguably all expected to collect three points from.
The far harder part comes now as both ambitious clubs try to capitalise on their rivals' stumbles at the San Paolo tonight, with AC Milan looking to go clear of Inter Milan in second place, two points behind unexpected pacesetters Lazio, and Napoli bidding to leapfrog their visitors.
AC Milan are marginable favourites at [2.84] but despite the huge opportunity that the other results on matchday eight has presented them with, their away record hardly inspires optimism - they've won just one of their last eight on their travels and that was against bottom of the league Parma.
Throw in the fact that Gianluca Zambrotta, Thiago Silva, Massimo Ambrosini and Ronaldinho are all injury absentees, their winless in four trips to Naples and there hasn't been an away triumph in Serie A so far this weekend and it all suggests that [2.36] title favourites Inter shouldn't be too nervous.
Does that mean you should back Napoli at [2.94]? Probably not, as the Partenopei were massively disappointing against a Liverpool second string there for the taking in the Europa League on Thursday and have been unconvincing at their noisy home.
The draw appears the most likely outcome at [3.2], while under 2.5 goals is perhaps the best bet of all at [1.87], given that the Rossoneri have netted only twice so far on the road. Another option that appeals is for improving Robinho - the most likely deputy for Robinho - to be first goalscorer at [9.2].
