See Inter & Lazio fight for third on Betfair

Inter and Lazio fans may get on better than pretty much any other sets of supporters in Italy, however for once friendship will be set aside as the battle for a place in next season's Champions League takes priority on Saturday afternoon.

For an Inter side whose routine usually consists of winning Serie A at something of a canter, battling to book a spot in a competition that they won last year is a novel experience, but the same can be said of Lazio having spent the last three campaigns in the mid-table wilderness.

The early pacesetters put in one of their best performances yet last Sunday to claim an impressive 4-1 victory at Catania, with the hit-and-miss Mauro Zarate coming off the bench to have a hand in all four goals.

It proved a vital success as their main rivals for fourth Udinese responded by somehow beating title-chasing Napoli away without their two top scorers Antonio Di Natale and Alexis Sanchez, though if Lazio were disappointed by that, the excitement of possibly catching Inter has compensated.

Edy Reja, occasionally accused by Biancocelesti fans of being overly cautious, has hinted that his team will head to the San Siro with winning in mind, as three points would send them past Inter due to their superior head-to-head record, and third place offers an automatic pass to the group stage.

Their hosts have lost just three home league games in five years since Calciopoli, and dropped points just four times there this season, so it will be a struggle, but Inter have suffered two defeats in three in Serie A and will be wearier having played three consecutive midweek matches.

It is also yet to be confirmed whether the Nerazzurri's star man and top goalscorer Samuel Eto'o will be available having missed the Coppa Italia semi-final triumph over Roma through injury, so consider laying Leonardo's men at [2.0].
