Inter and Juventus plan last gasp additions
Whereas there has been a distinct lack of activity in England, Spain and Germany this month, it has been an extremely busy transfer window in Italy and Serie A's big three are all believed not to have concluded their January business, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian sports newspaper reports that Inter Milan, who have already signed Andrea Ranocchia, Giampaolo Pazzini and Houssine Kharja, are expected to make a late bid to bring in Genoa full back Domenico Criscito and are willing to offer highly regarded youngster Davide Santon in exchange.
Meanwhile, Juventus are hopeful of capturing Real Madrid wide man Royston Drenthe after his loan spell at Hercules was cut short because of a pay dispute and AC Milan still have one more arrival lined up despite having already adding Antonio Cassano, Urby Emanuelson, Mark van Bommel and Didac Vila to their squad.
The title favourites are looking to strengthen their defence with a move for Juventus centre back Nicola Legrottaglie as they try to ensure that they make the most of the four-point lead they hold over second-placed Napoli with 16 games remaining.
Over in Germany, it appears that Stoke striker Tuncay Sanli has been identified by Steve McClaren as the ideal man to replace Manchester City new boy Edin Dzeko at Wolfsburg. Potters boss Tony Pulis clarified earlier today that Tuncay and Ricardo Fuller could both still leave the Britannia Stadium.
There hasn't been much speculation in the Spanish press on deadline day, with Real Madrid's shock 1-0 defeat to Osasuna stealing all the headlines in both the Madrid and Catalan-based media.
The main transfer story receiving coverage in Spain is that of Fernando Torres' potential switch to Chelsea, with Marca claiming that Solomon Kalou is the forward that Liverpool are keen on landing as part of a deal, whereas the majority of the English newspapers have said that Nicolas Anelka is the target.
Would Kalou improve Liverpool's squad? Offer your opinion below...
