Five potential Rafa replacements at Inter
There are strong rumours in Italy that Rafael Benitez will be sacked as Inter Milan coach if their winless run extends to six matches tonight against FC Twente, in a game they start as [1.64] favourites. Here are five of the men supposedly in contention to replace him should the axe fall...
Fabio Capello
The England boss was considered by president Massimo Moratti before the World Cup when Jose Mourinho's departure was confirmed, prompting the FA to swiftly grant him a contract extension and there has been speculation that the man who has won the scudetto seven times is still a target.
Diego Simeone
The 40-year-old Argentine, arguably most famous for being kicked by David Beckham at the 1998 World Cup, spent a few years with the Nerazzurri as a player but his record to date doesn't suggest that he's a man for the long-term. Since retiring in 2006, he has already been in charge of four clubs!
Luciano Spalletti
In our view, Spalletti is the most appealing of all the names put forward given his incredible track record. He's guided Empoli into Serie A, Udinese to Champions League qualification, Roma to second in Serie A and now Zenit to their third-ever league title, yet he claims he is eager to stay in Russia.
Marcelo Bielsa
The Argentine tactician with a reputation for stylish football was recently forced out of the Chile job for political reasons and there is talk that he interests Moratti because of the Argentine presence in the Inter side - four of their Champions League Final starters have represented the Albiceleste.
Walter Zenga
The former goalkeeper is an Inter legend having been part of their last title-winning team prior to this current era and spent 12 years at the San Siro as a player, however he was ditched after just 13 games in his last spell in the dugout with Palermo. Zenga has backed Benitez to turn things around.
Would one of these be an upgrade on Benitez? Is there anyone else worth looking at like Dunga and Leonardo, who have also been linked? Share your thoughts below...
