Toni to help Genoa hurt former club Roma

It's been a rather gripping start to the Serie A season, with no unbeaten or winless records intact, no side other than Lazio managing to win over half their games and none besides Udinese losing over half, a mere four points separating second and 16th and last year's runners-up Roma second bottom.

The Giallorossi are involved in one of the most intriguing ties this weekend, facing another team that have not quite lived up to expectations so far, strong summer spenders Genoa, who of course include among their ranks Luca Toni, who appeared 15 times in Roma's 2009-10 title charge.

Claudio Ranieri will perhaps feel that the international break came at a good time for the capital club in presenting them with an opportunity to regroup, however with Marco Borriello failing to impress for Italy and Mirko Vucinic an injury doubt, there is logic in taking the lay price of [1.96].

Sampdoria will stage the first match at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris since Serbia fans wreaked havoc to get their Euro 2012 qualifier against Italy there abandoned on Tuesday, with former player Sinisa Mihajlovic taking struggling Fiorentina there. The hosts haven't won since week one, so the draw appeals at [3.3].

Nobody expects leaders Lazio to challenge for top spot - they're [48.0] to be crowned champions - and the Eagles may be knocked off their perch as early as Sunday. They visit Bari, who have opened well despite losing Italy defenders Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Ranocchia to Juventus and Genoa.

Bari have been beaten just four times in 22 home games since earning promotion in 2008-09 and that record is so widely admired that they are [2.76] favourites in their clash with the table-toppers.

Italian football's Big Three - AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus - are all available to watch thanks to Betfair Live Video and fancied to triumph despite underwhelming starts. A tenner treble on the trio all collecting three points provides a profit of £30.80 using the Betfair Coupon.
