Here he looks ahead to one of Wednesday's big matches in week six of this season's European showpiece...

AC Milan v Ajax

Milan are through, so Ajax are the team with something to play for (albeit only a place in the Europa League).

Where the blue-and-black part of Milan is dismayed, the red-and-black are enjoying a season they haven't had for years. It's their first chance to claim the Scudetto since 2003-04. Even though the fans are longing for another super striker, Allegri's team is doing well indeed. So far they do have one super striker in Zlatan Ibrahimovic: he has eight goals in Serie A, six assists and his performance on Saturday in the 3-0 win over Brescia was excellent.

Kevin-Prince Boateng played as the attacking midfielder there, supporting Ibrahimovic and Robinho (all of them scored), with Andrea Pirlo in his more deep-lying position. Ronaldinho has not been making the starting line up and came on only for the last 20 minutes with the match practically over.

Ajax are clearly in crisis. After being taught a lesson by Madrid (0-4) they won over VVV Venlo (2-0), but Saturday's draw with NEC Nijmegen has added to their woes domestically, as they are already trailing leaders FC Twente by five points, and prompted Martin Jol to resign as manager.

Their recent European record shows that they have not quite reached their peak level yet. Auxerre are away to Real Madrid however, so Ajax should not miss out on their Europa League place here.

Back AC Milan to win at [2.02]
Back AC Milan to win 2-0 at [10.5]
