AC Milan jump past Inter with Napoli win
AC Milan ended their 12-year wait for victory at the Stadio San Paolo with a 2-1 triumph over Napoli to pull two points clear of Inter Milan in second, a success that moves them in to [2.7] to end their seven-year title drought, only marginally behind their neighbours who remain [2.48] favourites.
Napoli paid the price for a disappointing first half in which Robinho fired the visitors in front - as we predicted he would at [9.2] - but surprisingly improved following Michele Pazienza's dismissal for two deliberate handballs just before half-time.
They were unfortunate to go two behind when Zlatan Ibrahimovic nodded in a brilliant cross by sub Massimo Oddo yet refused to give up, with the excellent Ezequiel Lavezzi scoring a quite remarkable goal - dare we say an even more inspired moment of improvisation than Javier Hernandez's against Stoke?
The Rossoneri weathered the late storm for three points that Inter Milan will do well to match when they travel to Naples later this season, eradicating the memory of their disappointing trip to the Bernabeu last week and sending them into Saturday's monster of a game against Juventus on a high.
Massimiliano Allegri's side will go top if they defeat the erratic Bianconeri in that encounter, for which they may have Brazilian duo Thiago Silva and Ronaldinho back, at [2.0] and could well stay there as Lazio have a difficult away clash against Palermo the following day.
