Hibs set for another Old Firm home loss
There's plenty to look forward to on the second weekend of the SPL season, as Rangers travel to Hibernian, Celtic face a team who beat them 4-0 last season and Hamilton tangle with Hearts...
Hamilton v Hearts (Saturday, 12pm, ESPN)
The hosts are bottom of the league after one game having shipped three penalties at Pittodrie last week. They haven't been beaten in front of their own fans since January though, while Hearts disappointed at home to St Johnstone in their opener. The draw therefore looks attractive at [3.35].
St Johnstone v Aberdeen
This is the only Saturday 3pm clash thanks to the Europa League ripping up the schedule. Aberdeen, so poor at the end of last season, are surprise league leaders after thumping Hamilton 4-0 and are [3.2] to defeat St Johnstone, whose recent record at McDiarmid Park isn't the greatest.
Hibernian v Rangers (Sunday, 12.15pm, Sky Sports 4)
Two of the SPL's four opening weekend winners collide in Sunday's TV tie. 2009-10 was Hibernian's most successful campaign in four years but even then they lost on all four occasions that an Old Firm club visited Easter Road. It's [1.81] that Rangers help them continue that unwanted run.
Celtic v St Mirren
A humbling 4-0 loss to St Mirren cost Tony Mowbray the Celtic job in March, yet the Buddies should have far less to celebrate on Sunday, having gone over ten months without an away victory. Neil Lennon is aiming for a tenth straight SPL win and his side are [1.7] to lead at half-time and full-time.
Dundee United v Inverness CT
Inverness' tough reintroduction to the top flight continues with a trip to Tannadice. The Scottish Cup winners last triumphed at home in March, however [1.77] is a decent price against Terry Butcher's team, whose confidence will have been knocked by their first league defeat since last November.
Kilmarnock v Motherwell
Motherwell's unexpected reverse at home to Hibs last week probably owed a lot to the fact they've been preoccupied by Europa League qualifiers since mid-July, so their recent jaunt to Denmark is unlikely to help on that front. Kilmarnock are [2.7] to collect their first three points of the season.
