Day 86: We're backing Hearts to beat Motherwell at [2.62]

The SPL comes in for a huge amount of criticism but we're big fans for the time being at least after our five weekend tips provided a profit of £55.90 to anyone who backed them to £10 stakes.

Having got all three match outcomes right on Saturday, we're optimistic about our chances of keeping that form going with a wager on Hearts maintaining their incredible away record against Motherwell at [2.62] in tonight's Sky Sports 4-televised encounter.

The [2.02] favourites to be the SPL's best of the rest were beaten 2-0 at home by Motherwell back in September yet both clubs have picked up more points on their travels and are in vastly different positions than they were back then, the hosts having just lost Craig Brown - the man responsible for their climb up the table - and Hearts currently on a run of five straight victories without conceding.

The Jambos' away points haul still trails the Old Firm duo despite Jim Jefferies' side winning five of their six outside of Tynecastle but an average of 2.5 points a game on the road remains remarkable. To put it into context, the best in the English Premier League is Manchester City and Arsenal's 1.89.

The visitors arrive at Fir Park with plenty of momentum after enjoying their most emphatic triumph of the season 5-0 against Brown's new team Aberdeen on Saturday, with David Templeton and Rudi Skacel both netting for the second successive match. By contrast, the weather has forced Motherwell to spend almost a month stewing over their loss to Hibernian and draw with St Mirren.

Our bet: We're backing Hearts to defeat Motherwell at [2.62], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £16.20. The same punt pays only £12.15 with William Hill and SkyBet. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
