Celtic to seize an unexpected opportunity
Rangers' rearranged Tuesday night trip to Tannadice has been cancelled on account of the weather, presenting Celtic with the chance to head into Christmas as SPL leaders - a position they haven't held for more than a day since losing the first Old Firm derby of the season two months ago - by beating Kilmarnock.
The visitors' form is strong enough to offer Rangers hope that they could yet hang on to top spot though, as Killie have won five of their last seven to climb from tenth to fifth, their only defeat in that streak coming against the [1.83] title favourites.
However, Mixu Paatelainen's side have an absolutely awful record at Parkhead, taking just a point in total from their 20 visits over the last 12 years, while they've also lost five of their six meetings with top-half clubs this term, so it's no surprise whatsoever that Neil Lennon's Bhoys are [1.27] to be victorious, with the lay [1.28] if you fancy them to do a Manchester City.
While Celtic are worthy favourites, it's worth noting that Kilmarnock haven't been beaten by more than one goal all season in the SPL, meaning that Kilmarnock +1.5&+2.0 is a very appetising bet at [1.89]. They've found the net in each of their last 14 league games so take the [2.02] on both teams scoring, especially as their Irish striker Conor Sammon has scored eight in his last seven matches.
If you expect the hosts to triumph tonight then you should probably considering backing Celtic to be crowned champions at [2.32] as in four of the last five campaigns the Christmas table-toppers have gone on to finish first.
Think Kilmarnock will cause a major upset? They are [15.0] to win...
