Celtic force Rangers into nervy title finale
Our Wednesday night venture into Europe proved rather successful as the failure of continental heavyweights Barcelona, Inter and Lyon enabled us to claim a profit of £33.01 betting to £10 stakes that would have been more than twice as much were it not for Osasuna's late winner against Sevilla.
The one match we called badly wrong though was the collision between the SPL's third and second-placed teams in which we fancied Hearts to all but end Celtic's title bid, only for the Bhoys to deliver one of their finest results of the entire campaign with a 3-0 victory that ensures a thrilling finale.
The outcome was overshadowed by the latest in the long series of inexcusable incidents against Neil Lennon, as a supporter was somehow able to get onto the pitch and throw a punch at the stunned Celtic manager, who has had to cope with numerous death threats over the course of the season.
On the pitch, the greatest concern for fans of the Glasgow giants will be the unnecessary absence of Kris Commons for their final SPL game at home to cup final opponents Motherwell on Sunday, who received the trademark harsh second yellow for embracing travelling supporters after his strike.
The Scotland international's suspension isn't expected to be a major issue however as the Hoops are still [1.2] favourites to see off the out-of-form Steelmen at Parkhead, a result that would leave them hoping that Rangers fail to take all three points on their trip to Kilmarnock.
It remains a long shot, given Killie's seven-match winless streak and run of 13 losses in 14 clashes with Rangers, which is why the Gers are [1.34] to triumph at Rugby Park - but Celtic at least have far more of a chance than they appeared to after the shock defeat to Inverness CT.
Who will be crowned champions? Rangers are [1.26], with Celtic [4.7]...
