Aberdeen to make Rangers work for win
The SPL season is only five games old and already the Old Firm are seven points clear of the chasing pack. It doesn't look like there will be any surprises with the overall winner this season, but there could be one or two upsets this weekend...
Celtic v Hibernian (Saturday, 3pm)
Georgios Samaras is apparently entering contract negotiations over the next couple of days, and he couldn't have picked a better time. His hat-trick against Inverness in the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Wednesday helped the Bhoys romp to a 6-0 victory - their most emphatic of the season. Things have been closer between the sides than you might think in recent years, with Hibs beating Celtic once a season for the past three years. They will have to wait for another opportunity this season though, after only winning once in their last nine games. Back free-scoring Celtic to win at [1.32] and over 2.5 goals at [1.67].
Dundee United v St Johnstone (Saturday, 3pm)
Dundee United endured a torrid time against first division side Ross County in the week, before eventually coming through 2-1 in extra-time. St Johnstone had an easier time of things winning 3-0 against Queen of the South. They have only beaten United twice in their last 14 meetings, so backing a home win at [2.04] looks to be well worth a punt.
Hamilton v Kilmarnock (Saturday, 3pm)
Hamilton had no League Cup concerns in the week, having been knocked out in the previous round against Raith Rovers. They currently sit rock bottom of the table, and have only had one win all season. Kilmarnock have lost only once in their last six games (against Celtic) and have won two of their last three on the road (they lost the other against Rangers) - they should come out on top here. Back a win for Killie at [3.3].
Hearts v Motherwell (Saturday, 3pm)
Hearts came through an epic cup game in the week against Falkirk 4-3 thanks to a last minute winner from Mark Stewart, while Motherwell had a more comfortable time of things against Brechin City, coming through 2-0. Things couldn't be much closer between these sides, with five wins for Motherwell, six for Hearts and one draw in their last 12 meetings. Hearts have drawn three of their last four home games, so another draw at [3.4] looks to be the best looking bet.
St Mirren v Inverness (Saturday, 3pm)
It's been a pretty miserable season for St Mirren, with only one win in their opening six games. They sit second from bottom in the SPL, but do welcome a side fresh off the back of a 6-0 drubbing against Celtic. Newly promoted Inverness have also only won once, so a draw at [3.3] would not be a disaster for either side.
Aberdeen v Rangers, (Sunday, 12:45pm, Live on Sky Sports 4)
With Celtic playing the day before, Rangers will know exactly what they need to do to either keep pace, or set the pace themselves. Getting a win at Aberdeen has been easier said than done for Rangers in recent years, with the Gers failing to win at the Pittodrie Stadium in their last six attempts. We think Rangers will win this time though, having won every league game this season and only conceding one goal in the process. Back the away win at [6.2] and under 2.5 goals at at [2.1].
