The Betfair Football £10 Bet of the Day
Day 127: We're backing Aberdeen to beat Motherwell at [2.24]
It's been a rough few days for the Bet of the Day but we're hoping to get back on track by doing something that has worked well over the last year or so, putting faith in Aberdeen boss Craig Brown.
He is reunited with former employers Motherwell for the first time since his controversial December exit this evening and with the Steelmen's fortunes badly affected by the departure of the manager who thrust them into contention for third, we're backing Aberdeen to triumph at [2.24].
On the day that Brown's arrival at Pittodrie was confirmed, Motherwell were fifth in the SPL while the Dons sat right at the bottom of the pile, however two months on the clubs are eighth and ninth, and a home win tonight will leave Aberdeen two points behind with a game in hand.
The transformation of both sides has been drastic, with Aberdeen winning four, drawing one and losing two - both to leaders Celtic - of their seven since Brown's arrival and Motherwell suffering seven defeats and collecting just five points in their ten matches since the ex-Scotland boss' exit.
It's been a disastrous start at Fir Park for Brown's successor Stuart McCall, whose team have failed to find the net in all but one of their last eight fixtures - the only goals coming against a Hibernian side that were in equally dire form at the time.
Last weekend, they were thumped 6-0 by Rangers and though Aberdeen were beaten 3-0 by Celtic, allowances have to be made for the dismissal of Andrew Considine within two minutes. The Dons can also be upbeat about the fact they held Motherwell to a draw on the road in September in the middle of their lengthy slump.
Our bet: We're backing Aberdeen to beat Motherwell at [2.24], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £12.40. The same punt pays only £11 with Coral. Sign up for a new account now and have losing bets up to a total of £30 refunded for a week.
Overall profit: £90.60
